Plein air painting is about painting and drawing outside. The art form has been around for quite a long time but was truly made into an art form by the French Impressionists in the late 1800s. Their desire to paint light and its changing, ephemeral qualities, coupled with the creation of transportable painting equipment artists to capture the emotional and sensory dimensions of a particular landscape at a particular moment in time.
No experience required, just an interest in learning. Spend 2 hours painting outside at Riel House in your own Impressionistic style on location of your choosing around the grounds. You may wish to being a lawn chair to sit in if picnic tables are not available.
Supplies are included. Best for 16+ and no spectators, please just enthusiastic artists!
